This year’s National Margarita Day actually fell on a Sunday so there may have been a number of cocktail enthusiasts that ended up with very sore heads at work on the following Monday morning. For those of you that are unware of the concoction of alcohol that forms a Margarita, the drink consists of tequila, triple sec and lime (or sometimes lemon) juice which as you can imagine forms a fairly potent combination.

We specialise in driving laws and we have a number of client’s from all over the globe. We therefore feel it is important to keep up to date with international driving laws. Mexico’s drink driving laws are not too dissimilar to the laws governing England and Wales, although laws do vary from state to state. In England and Wales in order to be able to (legally) drive you must have no more than 81 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The same limits apply in New Mexico for drivers over the age of 21, however for drivers under 21 in New Mexico the prescribed limit is considerably lower and is only 20 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. There is no such distinction in our legal system as the prescribed limit is the same for all drivers regardless of their age. It is of course highly inadvisable for anyone to indulge in a margarita before getting behind a wheel of a car, let alone someone in a region where a mere 20 mg per 100ml of blood can lead to a prosecution.

Regardless of whether you’re a deep thinking philosopher that indulges in a margarita at any given opportunity or someone that has never tried the drink before – Sunday 22 February was the day to raid your cabinets and get mixing. Just remember to not overindulge TOO much and maybe try and book a day off on Monday!
