Great outcome & lovely staff, only disappointment is to spend so much money on an obvious outcome & only able to fight to recover such a low amount even though acquitted & no trial. Not sure why legal aid based is mentioned, nothing about this was legal aid?

Had the trial gone ahead, if it had been adjourned I’d have had to pay a second trial fee but not being refunded for not going to trial in the first place is a little frustrating.

I do need to thank all for the outcome & letting me know. A pity it took the other side so long to come to the conclusion, a year since charges & only a week before trial date :/ I have to say that once the whole thing was in the hands of GM I felt I could sleep again at night. They managed to work out a way to make the fees more affordable too which helped & was much appreciated

When I was issued with the paperwork to appear in court for a speeding/failing to furnish offence, I did not know what to do. After looking on the internet we came across Geoffrey Miller Solicitors. I rang with my enquiry and was appointed my solicitor. My solicitor handled everything brilliantly and took a lot of the stress and worry from my partner and I. He was extremely well organised and approachable and his communication was second to none.

I was charged as registered keeper in two separate cases for not responding to police requests for driver information for speeding offences. I was not the driver on either occasion and had not received the original police notices and hence the failure to respond. In the first case the driver was present on the court day and pleaded guilty to the speeding charge but the magistrate’s court did not accept the plea on the grounds that I was the defendant. I submitted a guilty plea (which was my mistake) by mail but stated that I did not receive the police notice. I was found guilty, fined, and my license endorsed with 6 penalty points. In the second case, also heard in a Magistrate Court where I was represented by my former solicitors, and the driver gave evidence – I was convicted, fined, license endorsed with a further 6 points and disqualified for 6 months. My former solicitors appealed the sentence but not the conviction in the first case taking the position that the conviction could not be appealed, as I had pleaded guilty even though the plea was submitted without any legal advice. On the second case although I pleaded not guilty it became clear during the hearing that the advocate retained by my former solicitor had not been adequately briefed. It was clear that on both occasions that the support from my earlier legal advisers was inadequate. I thereafter engaged Tara Boyle at Geoffrey Miller solicitors to assist me since not being able to drive caused serious disruption to my children’s education since we live in remote area not served by public transport. With Tara as my solicitor she first succeeded in getting the driving ban lifted as well as the first case reopened against the conviction and sentence and appealed against the conviction and sentence in the second case. Both cases were reheard in the Crown Courts and I was acquitted in both cases with the 12 points on my license cancelled.

From the outset I was extremely impressed with the immediate access I had to Tara who was handling my cases and on occasion Stephen and Jeanette whenever Tara was not available, all who spared no effort to answer my many questions promptly and prepare my defense diligently. Tara retained a first-rate advocate to represent me in court and he had received thorough briefings and was very supportive during two stressful days in Court. He effectively countered the arguments put up by the prosecutors thanks to the comprehensive background material put together by Tara. I am thankful for all their support during a traumatic few months and getting me acquitted, revoking the fines of more than GBP 2000, tax costs awarded and getting my license reinstated.
