I was charged with drinking with excess alcohol in April 2012, I contacted many local solicitors to where I live which all gave conflicting advise and I become more confused to what options I had when I went to court. The one year automatic ban and fine estimated at 500, I could of accepted but the larger implication of a 10 year criminal record was alarming and could of ruined my migration plans and general traveling visa application.
I googled the internet and come across the name Geofrey Miller Solicitors whom claimed a 100% success rate in my particular case type (urine drink driving) at that time, I am a very pessimistic person and I questioned them on this claim and I soon become confident in their services by their honest, frank and down to earth answering, they appeared to be the only solicitors that to date I made contact with that actually had extensive knowledge and experience with drink driving cases. They used plain english.
An initial fee for their services was quoted and yes at the time I assessed their rates to be higher than a normal walk in solicitors practice but in life you get what you pay for and I want success and not gamble on a company whom did not give me confidence so I decided to appoint them.
It was important that I was not found not guilty of drink driving as the 10 year criminal record could have implications and especially when you travel and require visas.
I was represented at my first hearing with a very normal and plain speaking Barrister for my NOT GUILTY plea and my case worker was a lady called Vicky, whom I felt at ease discussing personal elements of my case and situation. I was updated regularly throughout the months that would follow. There was many technical elements to the case and several court hearing followed to which I was not required to attend. I was always given copies of the specialist reports, statements and details of the case to which went straight over my head but at least I was updated and appreciated that many things was going on behind the scenes.
The trial date for the hearing was finally agreed for the end of March 2013 and one week before the hearing I received a message from Geofrey Miller Solicitors requesting that I contact them, I phoned Vicky immediately and was advised that there would be no hearing as the case had now been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.
I would therefore as the number one pessimist like to offer my details to act as a reference for anyone whom like myself question the credibility of Geoffrey Miller Solicitors. Obviously there can never be a guarantee of success but it is better to have a company whom know what they are doing and have an excellent success rate defending you or you could be wasting thousands on novice solicitors and still get found guilty by the courts.
Thank You to Vicky and the team at Geoffrey Miller Solicitors, I am sorry for the hard time and questioning at the start of my case.
