I had 9 points on my license, was summoned for speeding in 30mph at 42mph. Three points normal penalty would result in automatic driving disqualification at 12 points.

Due to the significance of my financial contribution to our small 5 person company, there was a real risk of causing exceptional hardship to individuals in the business if I was unable to drive to clients and complete regular work. The reduction of income or even the loss of the clients could have led to staff reductions to enable survival. If we had to cut staff the viability of the business would come into question.

Since I was already drawing a negligible salary and had re-mortgaged to fund the business and staffing, I had no ability to provide more funding to tide us over any ban I might receive and the loss of income if I was not able to do client work.
