Jeanette Miller , Senior and Managing Partner of eminent Manchester law firm, Geoffrey Miller Solicitors – one of the UK’s only motor offence law specialists – has established a new independent regulatory body for lawyers practising in the field of motor offence law.
The non-profit organisation known as AMOL (Association of Motor Offence Lawyers) will set new standards within this area of law and its members must meet the association’s stringent criteria before being eligible to join. All AMOL lawyers must demonstrate proven ability relating to individual experience and knowledge of motor offence law and tactics employed by specialists in this niche field.
Jeanette Miller , Founding President of AMOL, commented: “Motor offence law is a highly specialised and complex area of the law and it is imperative that it is only handled by experts. However, more and more law firms are claiming to be able to handle motor offence cases in the hope of cashing in on what is considered a lucrative area of the law despite not being technically qualified or experienced to do so.”
Highlighting the reasons for creation of AMOL, Miller said: “If you needed an operation on your brain you wouldn’t ask your local GP to perform it. The same logic applies to this specialist area of the law. There are only a few qualified motor offence lawyers within the UK and we have worked hard to build our strong reputation. AMOL will ensure that defendants receive the best quality legal advice available from reputable law firms.”
In the same week that AMOL was launched, Jeanette Miller also announced the publication of her new self help lawpack, ‘Fight a Motoring Ticket’. The guide offers practical advice to help people to resolve their basic legal issues without employing a lawyer. The lawpack is available to buy from 14 th May and can be found at many leading retailers including Tesco and WH Smith or bought online at www.lawpack.co.uk.
Jeanette Miller is also due to appear on ITV’s forthcoming new documentary series ‘Driving Me Crazy'. The programme follows the recently reported case of Brian Wiltshire whose conviction for speeding was appealed on the basis that the evidence was insufficient to prove that the laser device used by the police was accurate.
